If I was injured in a Florida car accident, but do not have insurance, can I still sue and recover for my injuries?
Hopefully if you’re driving a car in Florida, you are in fact insured. But there are situations in which policies lapse or for some other reason, you don’t have a car insurance at the time the accident occurred. You can still bring a claim against the at fault driver or owner of the vehicle that caused your accident under their liability insurance coverage. What will happen is, because you didn’t have the right kind of insurance or no insurance, you become liable for the first $10,000 in your medical bills out of any settlement that’s obtained on your behalf.
