How do attorneys charge for Florida auto accident cases?
Attorneys do charge a fee for their legal services provided to a person that’s been involved in a car accident. Most attorneys will provide a preliminary or initial consultation at absolutely no cost to the person that was in the crash. If you would like to hire that attorney, attorneys in Florida, for the most part, use what is called a contingency fee. That means that they will take a percentage, and typically that percentage rate is 33.3% if they recover damages out of court of the gross settlement amount, plus any cost they’ve advanced on your behalf.
A lot of attorneys will not even charge cost if they ultimately have to dismiss the case or don’t recover enough damages for you. But, again, in most car accident cases, it will not cost the person that was injured who wants to hire an attorney any money upfront or any money as the case goes along.
