What Are the Most Dangerous Cities for Car Accidents in the United States?

Posted on : January 7, 2019, By:  Ronald Slonaker

Most people who have to commute into work feel that they live in one of the most dangerous cities for vehicle accidents given the amount of times they might have nearly avoided a serious vehicle crash.

A recent study has attempted to compile all of these details to reveal which cities are more likely to put you at risk for a serious car accident. Quote Wizard, an online insurance marketplace, has identified the 25 cities most prone to vehicle accidents. Those leading the list include:

  • Columbus, Ohio.
  • St. Louis, Missouri.
  • Los Angeles, California.
  • Sacramento, California.
  • New Orleans, Louisiana.

Plenty of different contributing factors can elevate a city’s risk for serious vehicle accidents, including bad drivers, poor road maintenance, and distracted driving. The researchers identified that some cities had a higher likelihood of crashes than others after reviewing more than a million data points for drivers in the United States to identify where drivers get into accidents at the highest rates.

Most people assume in their state that they face the highest risk of being hurt in a vehicle accident when driving in a major city, but rural roads can be just as dangerous, particularly as they are less likely to have traffic lights or visible lighting that can alert you to dangers like wildlife. If you have already been hurt in a serious vehicle accident caused by another person, you need to schedule a consultation with an experienced attorney immediately.
